About Us

From Brazil to the US, with purpose.
WHAT IS MARLIN AZUL ?
A direct connection between Brazil and the US.

Marlin Azul connects Brazilian producers directly to Hawaii’s food service market, creating a supply chain with fewer intermediaries, more control, and better results.

We built Marlin Azul to be the missing link between high-quality origin and a market that depends on reliable imports.

With operations on both ends, we make the process simpler, faster, and more transparent.

Marlin Azul is a bilateral sourcing and export operation created to serve Hawaii with direct access to selected products from Brazil. By managing origin, export, import, and local distribution through an integrated structure, we improve traceability, reduce friction, and create a more efficient path from producer to buyer.

More than moving products, we build a dependable commercial channel — one designed for consistency, quality, and long-term partnership.

Why Marlin Azul?
Named after
the fastest fish
in the ocean.

Marlin Azul was born in Guarapari — a small fishing village on the coast of Espírito Santo, Brazil. On February 29, 1992, a 636-kg blue marlin was pulled from these very waters, setting a world record that still stands today. The feat became so legendary that a statue was erected on Praia do Morro in its honor. That name — and that spirit — traveled with us to Hawaii.

FASTEST FISH ALIVE

The blue marlin is among the fastest fish in the ocean — streamlined, powerful, built for speed.

BUILT TO GROW

Not only fast — blue marlin add dozens of kilograms per year, making them one of the ocean’s most remarkable growers.

A LEGEND IN STONE

Guarapari erected a statue on Praia do Morro to honor the 1992 world record catch.

OUR STORY
From trading to food service — and back.

Magno Passos started in 2008 in the international trading and distribution industry. In 2014, he relocated to Hawaii and entered the food service sector — the side that receives the goods, faces the customer, and feels the real impact of price and quality.

In 2018, he took over the management of one of Honolulu’s most successful seafood restaurants. That’s where the opportunity became undeniable: Hawaii imports between 85% and 90% of its food — and still overpays for it, because the supply chain has too many middlemen.

In 2021, Magno founded Marlin Azul to change that. Operating through two complementary companies — Marlin Azul in Brazil and Fishes USA in Hawaii — we created a direct channel between Brazil’s finest producers and Hawaii’s restaurants and distributors.

The Problem We Solve
Why Hawaii needs a direct supply chain.

85–90% of Hawaii’s food is imported

Hawaii is one of the most food-import-dependent places in the world. The demand for high-quality imported products is constant — and the market is large enough to support a dedicated, specialized supply chain.

The supply chain has too many middlemen

Traditional import chains add 3 to 5 intermediaries between origin and destination — each taking a margin and increasing delivery time. The result: higher prices, lower freshness, and zero traceability.
